OWENSBORO, KY - Robert E. Stevens, Sr., 86, of Owensboro died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

He was born on November 12, 1923 in Ohio County, Kentucky to the late Estill and Vina Mae Stevens. He was a truck driver for Transit Mix Concrete Co. and a member of Garden Green Baptist Church. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ida Belle Stevens in February, 2006 and a daughter Brenda Bullington in 1984.

He is survived by three sons, Robert (Patty) Stevens Jr. of Falls of Rough, James W. Stevens of Calhoun, and Dennis L. Stevens of Owensboro; ten grandchildren, April Harris, Amy Spencer, James Stevens Jr., Jeremy Stevens, Tammy Hampton, Kim Bullington, Dale Stevens, Samantha Stevens, Mark Stevens and Bobby Gene Stevens; a brother, Wayne Stevens of Philpot; and three sisters Mildred Abrams of Morgantown, Shirley Driskell of Reed, and Helen Underhill of Owensboro.

Services are at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro, KY with military honors by VFW post 696. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
